Understanding The Landscape
Getting to know the area better - the people, history and what is there now.
To begin The Greenway Project, we set out to uncover the history, heritage and human stories of the area. By walking the route and talking with local residents, we started to explore what makes the Greenway unique and how it connects to the wider community.
Together, we began building a living map of the Greenway, bringing together local stories, landmarks, wildlife, access points and the everyday ways people use and care for the space. Through these conversations, we also uncovered more about the area’s industrial heritage, folklore and shared stories.
We explored existing nature, heritage and AR trails too, looking at how places use creative and digital experiences to connect people with local stories.
All of this helped us build a clearer picture of the Greenway and the wider area, guided by the knowledge and experiences of the people who know it best.
