Exploring ideas with the community
Inspired by our earlier research and visits, we created a number of hands-on activities to invite more residents and Greenway users have their say in the project.
Living Map
We created simple worksheets to help people add their own experiences of the Greenway. They marked favourite places, routes they use, things they notice, memories and ideas for the future.
Zine & Collage Making
A zine is a small handmade booklet made using words, images and collage. We invited people to create their own, sharing memories, local stories, wildlife and the things they value about the Greenway. Together, the finished zines created a mini library of ideas and experiences from across the area.
Sensory Observations Using sight, sound, smell and touch, we asked people to slow down and notice the Greenway in a different way. They made rubbings, drawings and notes inspired by leaves, bark, birdsong, plants and old railway features along the route.
These activities gave people different ways to take part and helped us gather ideas, stories and experiences to carry into the next stage of the project.
We are now developing a creative pack that people will be able to collect from local places, to contribute their creativity to the project. More on this soon!
